HIDE a DVD Drive or Hard Disk Drive in XP,Vista and Windows 7

Step 1: Go to Start–>Run – > Diskpart. Click Yes if you are prompted for (User Account Control) dialog Box.

 

Step 2: And then type" List Volume" and hit enter.This command lists all drives in your PC or Laptop

 Step 3: If you want hide the DVD Drive, type Select Volume D (here,D is the drive letter) or Select Volume 

(here three is the volume number) and press Enter. This command will select D: (DVD Drive).

Step 4:To hide a drive, type Remove Letter H. Here, H is the DVD drive’s letter that you want to remove.

Now the DVD Drive successfully removed from the PC. You may also try this to hide your Hard Disk drives

(C:,D: etc.)

To show the hidden drive (Removed drive), follow the steps given below:

 Step 1: Repeat steps 1,2 and 3.

 Step 2 : To Unhide a drive, type Assign letter H. Here, H is the DVD drive’s letter that you want to enable).

 

How To Disable a USB Flash Drive (Mass Storage Devices Only)

Whenever you insert a USB flash drive into your computer, the flash drive is detected automatically  by Windows and then opened. Here I am going to show you how to stop your USB Flash Drives Mass Storage Only through registry. 

Steps:

1.      Click Start Menu > go to run command and type "regedit" without quotes. Registry Editor will open.

2.      Expand the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE folder then SYSTEM >CURRENT CONTROLL SET > SERVICES >USBstor, located at the left pane.

 

3.      Find "Start" in the right pane with the blue icon.

 4.      Double click "Start". A box titled "Edit DWORD value" will open.

5.      Write down "4" in the "Value Data" Field.

6.      Click OK and then close the Registry Editor.

7.      To enable it again, repeat steps 1 through 4 and then change the value to 3. The default value for enabling a USB flash drive is 3.

How To Disable Autoplay USB or CD/DVD Drives:-

Click on Start button and then on Run (or  press Window+R button).

Type gpedit.msc in the Run Command and click on OK.

In pop up window select Administrative Templates under Computer Configuration section from left window pane and double click on Windows Components in right window pane.

Now look for the AutoPlay Policies and double click on it.

Now double click on Turn off Autoplay.

In the pop up window select Enabled button and in Turn off Autoplay On section select CD-ROM and removable media drives.

Now click on Apply button and then on OK button.

How to Change Windows 7 Password without Knowing Current Password

• Go to Control Panel and click on the Administrative Tools.
• Under this section double click on Computer Management.
•  Select  System Tools from right window pane.

• Under this, just double click on Local Users and Groups and then on Users
• Now you will see all the login accounts of your computer. Right click on any the account whose password you want to change and then click on Set Password.

• A warning message will popup on your screen just click on Proceed button.

• Now enter your New Password  and click on OK button.

That’s it! your windows 7 password is changed without knowing current password. The only limitation of this method is that your current  account should  have Administrative privileges.

Method 2:

If you love to be work on Command Line then this method is for you.

• Open command prompt by typing with administrative privileges .( Type CMD in start, right click on it and select Run as Administrative )

• In the CMD window  type the following command and  hit Enter

net user Account Name Your New Password
In this command replace Account Name by the account name (Account Name is case sensitive) whose password you want to change and replace Your New Password by the password that you want to set.

• Now if everything goes alright  you will see “The command completed successfully” on your screen, now type exit command and hit Enter
